Ne’ata’q is a volunteer-driven project. We offer volunteers a welcoming, inclusive, supportive community for experienced nature caretakers/gardeners and beginners alike!

Do you have a passion for plants, the planet, and growing food perennially? Are you a bit handy, do you enjoy physical work, or are you just willing to learn? Forest Caretakers are volunteers who work alongside Wes, our Forest Operations Coordinator, to learn and help with a range of food forest needs.

Forest Caretaking is a great way to be active outdoors, gain some hands-on experience, and support the food forest – all in a friendly, casual, social setting!

Caretakers get together, based on availability and project needs, from April through November. Activities range from managing materials and equipment, to planting and caring for plants, to watering and weeding. Caretakers can participate a little or often, as suits your schedule. Contact Wes through our email below.

Do you want to support the food forest but physical work is not for you? You can help the forest on a casual basis! Contact Teresa through our email below to volunteer with:

– Providing snacks for events and work parties;

– Acting as a Nature Play Leader at events (orientation and supplies provided);

– Helping out at activities with school classes (all school volunteers must register with the school, including a background check).

Not sure what opportunity is right for you? Have an idea you’d like to bring to life? An activity you would like to hold at the food forest? Please contact us:
